Foodbank responds to increase in users during crisis

Our very own charity supporter, PL84U AL-SUFFA, who have recently been successful in receiving emergency funds during this pandemic, were filmed by BBC London to share more about their work in assisting vulnerable people.

"I don't like doing it but I do it to survive"

Based in Walthamstow, East London, they have seen an increase of people using the food bank. Normally they serve meals twice a month, now distribute food meals three times in a week.

PL84U AL-SUFFA Founder, Saira Mir said:  “We’ve noticed that there’s a lot of different people from different social backgrounds.”

Many people such as Owen who is self-employed have found the foodbank to be the only means of putting food on the table.
