Furloughed workers can volunteer but not for their own organisation

Government announced in March, The Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme will allow employers to claim 80% of furloughed employees wages up to £2,500 a month.

This scheme strictly prohibits an employee to work for their current employer for free even but can volunteer elsewhere in the community.
